I enabled WEP in my 802.11n router, why my 802.11n wireless only connects 54Mbps?

It is know most 802.11n products will only connect at 54Mbps if you use WEP or WPA/TKIP security. The reason being that the 802.11n specification states that the high throughput rates (link rates above 54Mbps) can't be enabled if either of those outdated security methods are used.

We recommend you should use WPA2/AES encryption. The bottom line is that you can only use WPA2/AES wireless security (or risking no security at all!!!) if you don't want to throw away lots of speed.
